@therainingmonkey@toot.wales @delta@chaos.social Exactly my feeling as well. First with the chatmail relays and now with the video chat feature requiring a TURN server, it's turning into "just another messenger" requiring its own dedicated infrastructure.

    @therainingmonkey@toot.wales @delta@chaos.social Thing is, Delta Chat started out as a chat-like interface for email and allowed talking to people that only have (or can connect to) an email client - which is the one thing that made it unique between all those other messengers. Support for "classic" email servers is now a legacy feature with things like subfolder support being removed in the next update. All in the name of "security”. But if I need (and get all my contacts) to use specific servers, why should I use Delta Chat when there are things like XMPP, Matrix, and the likes? @delta https://chaos.social/@delta/116731626972297600
