In addition to social platforms like Mastodon and Pixelfed, we are exploring whether we can also use an open source platform for our newsletters. We are looking for something privacy-friendly, self-hostable and sustainable over the long term. Right now, Keila and Listmonk are on our list. Have you used (either of) them or other alternatives? We'd love to hear about your experience: what worked well, what didn't and which one you'd recommend? Thanks! #OpenSource #SelfHosting #FediVerse

@Bibliothecaris@social.edu.nl and what about @surf's #peertube instance? And maybe link your (new) library inventory to @inventaire@mamot.fr where your account has a #fediverse presence too?

@Bibliothecaris@social.edu.nl We can't provide direct feedback for these products but we have been running and are running our own outgoing SMTP server for years now. Contrary to popular believe it works even with MSFT, Google and other email providers. You have to have SPF, DKIM and DMARC correctly set up. There are important details like the reverse DNS entry of the sending IP matching all this and so on. But it is doable. There are free services to test your setup and provide valuable feedback.

  • @Bibliothecaris@social.edu.nl Ghost, I use their commercial entity, but you can download the source and set up your own website.

@Bibliothecaris@social.edu.nl We are using mautic at work. However, it might go beyond what is necessary for sending newsletters alone.

@Bibliothecaris@social.edu.nl wij hosten en beheren Listmonk voor organisaties en hebben voorbeelden van hoe zij dit inzetten.
