I love reading the comments under posts like these. Even if some personal stories are heartbreaking, the support that comes from others who are also reading the comments is rather heartwarming. @hollie@social.coop the way you interact with people is really lovely. You give space for people to have their emotions and share their stories. My time in the Fediverse has allowed me to think more deeply about gender and not just on a personal level but on a societal level. Even though I still consider myself cisgender, I’ve never really fit into much of the societal norms for women. I like questioning gender and I think it’s important we all have a “thinky-think” (to quote one of the commenters under this original post) about gender on an individual level and in a general sense. A lot of feminism does that in the context of the patriarchy but many don’t go deep enough or wide enough with their critical thinking. I also notice people tend to think of gender differently with the queer lens than they do with the hetero lens.
