Imagine telling a medieval king that his great-great etc. grandson is charging cart storage rent to the monks who transport the sick and injured to monasteries for treatment, and no one is conspiring to get him dethroned.

@akareilly@hachyderm.io for every million of personal net worth over the first twenty, one joust per year. The lower limit to rise in proportion to the national minimum wage.

@akareilly@hachyderm.io There's an opportunity hiding somewhere here to encourage the aristocracy into boarding more leaky yachts, submarines, and rockets.

@akareilly@hachyderm.io You can joust on bikes today, and this is popular in some areas. I myself used to ride around protests carryng a camera tripod couched under my right arm as though it was a lance. Was a convenent way to carry a long heavy pole.

@akareilly@hachyderm.io I'm plenty happy for them to get to use a modern steed for their jousting. Even a 250cc motor bike is going to increase the lethality more than modern armor will decrease it. And as we are talking about nobles jousting I think the increase in lethality is an upside to this tweak.
