I've got my 2 18 TB Toshiba MG09 HDDs before the AI bros crushed the market with their 100 billion dollar gonads. Those HDDs are over double the price, now, but mine seem to be cruising smoothly along the bottom of the bathtub curve.

I am envious of the 18TBs. i have 6x 8TB ironwolfs in striped mirrors with around 40k hours and 2 older Samsung 893 enterprise SSDs in a mirror. the one thing I did manage to get lucky on was a Dell 7920 rack with dual Xeons and 764GB of ECC DDR4 for the equivalent of around 1500EUR back in November 2025. Makes quite a beast of a promox server 512GB of it is just ARC cache for the ZFS pools (because I don’t have a better use for it)
