Our beliefs are not defined by what people who use GrapheneOS or donate to it believe. We decide what's acceptable within our community and we do a lot of moderation. We don't police what's done fully outside it. We clearly won't only have users, donors and supporters with beliefs aligned with ours.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social Authoritarianism is at its core a far-right/fascist ideology, it can permeate left wing opinions but it is not left wing itself. If a person or party or whatever calls themselves left wing and are in support of fascist ideas, they're not left wing despite what they say, that's confusionism, if you take it at face value you fall into their trap, you're both helping them and hurting left wing ideas, that looks like extreme centrism and it's not a good look

@stilic@fedi.cuties.zip @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social GOS doesn't listen to what it's donors request. A notable example of this iirc is their drama with FUTO whilst still accepting donations. GrapheneOS can receive funding from whoever and that doesn't mean that they're now influenced by them. This isn't like lobbying and GrapheneOS doesn't bend to its donors interest and from what I know is not entirely dependent on a major single donor to stay afloat so they have no incentive to do so.

If they can get more money to funs the project without outside influence now dictating it, but why not take the money? - It doesn't dictate the project - It creates no outside influence - The donation will support important privacy tool development I don't get why they shouldn't take the money as a non-profit taking a no-strings-attached donation that will only serve to help GOS improve.

Mind you GrapheneOS isn't even one of the biggest projects Mullvad donated to. I dont see this SAME kind of criticism happening with tor and the projects mullvad donated the most to.

@stilic@fedi.cuties.zip @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social I can't believe I ever had to say these words, but Örebro Party, despite being ethnonationalist, doesn't bear much resemblance to Trump. If it did it might actually be coherent. Örebro is just straight up a nonsense party. It also gets worse for Mullvad because apparently 72% of their funding comes from Daniel Berntsson himself.

Multiple companies gave us sponsored servers. Mullvad offered 2 sponsored servers on DataPacket. Mullvad sponsors a large number of open source projects. They give $250k/year to QubesOS, heavily sponsor and work with the Tor Project, have sponsored WireGuard and many other projects. What do you think we should do? Do you think we should take down the 2 update mirrors?
