This is what every police chief in America should be saying and enforcing. Minneapolis police chief warns officers: Stop unlawful force by ICE or lose your job https://www.ms.now/news/minneapolis-police-chief-unlawful-force-ice-jobs

  • @joeinwynnewood@mstdn.social make sure your town doesn't allow the police department to hire anyone who has worked for ICE.

  • @joeinwynnewood This is an important story. As with the current investigations into the military drug boat murder/warcrime, and multiple states setting up official portals to report ICE abuses, institutions begining to stand up to this lawless regime is a critical inflection point.

@joeinwynnewood I can just imagine multiple police officers drawing their service weapons on ICE officers, yelling at them to stand down. Who will shoot first? Will the officer's service weapons pierce the ICE officer's body armor? If they stand down, will they submit to being cuffed and taken to a police station? Or will some FEDS descend on the station to take custody? What if they're refused? Oh, the hijinx that will ensue.

@joeinwynnewood About damn time. And given how conservative, even fascistic, #police departments tend to be, this is also a sign of how deeply the arrogant violence perpetrated by #ICE has alienated the people of the cities and states affected by it.

@joeinwynnewood Except they should also be arrested. They are not above the law, and it can't be legal to harass and kidnap people because you're wearing a uniform. Trump cannot pardon people on a state level--police should be arresting ice across the country. It's up to police stations to decide if they are protecting their communities and the law, or are they sucking Nazi dick for the chance to have an authoritarian daddy? Are they eager to please their chode daddy, or are they brave heroes?

  • @joeinwynnewood @annaleen Context for those not in the Twin Cities: MPD Chief O'Hara saying that follows instances over the past few months where both Minneapolis and Saint Paul cops have violated the separation ordinances to assist ICE and Border Patrol agents. Including SPPD cops showing up with tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets to assault members of the city & state government along with members of the media and the general public: https://www.mprnews.org/story/2025/11/26/rep-athena-hollins-st-paul-federal-operation-peaceful-protest-tear-gas
