@tbortels@infosec.exchange fwiw, I think these people *are* artists! I think they are just playing a different game than I am. I design with a little different intent than perhaps they do, with different goals. I suspect, at least!
I think ad agencies are usually leaning into trends, shock value, etc— which might explain how Spotify miscalculated greatly with its disco ball app icon. Someone in marketing thought that would be fine. Because... different priorities.

@louie@pdx.social You are being kind. But I see most of that corporate graphics and my eyes gloss over, and a Truman Capote quote comes to mind: "That's not writing, that's typing." So I guess that makes me a critic, but I generally keep it to myself. Or try to anyway.
