@GreenRoc@mastodon.social Same. I try to use them sometimes, just to conquer a fear, and pretty much every time I need the checker to come help. Good thing I'm friendly with most of the staff there, especially the security guard. I always smile and say hello to him, just in case one day I need the benefit of the doubt about walking out with an unscanned item. But my mask is a friendly but goofy old lady, which is an advantage I have and acknowledge. When I panic, it evokes sympathy rather than fear or anger. I know you don't get the same grace. I wish everyone was treated well regardless of manner or edifice. 💔

@spiegelmama@infosec.exchange Only time I was treated nicely by strangers is when I forgot I had my home-only hairstyle that looks like Harly Quinn (pigtails). I'm usually treated like a Karen.
