I understand the value of industry recognition, but there’s no award in my field that I respect the selection process enough that receiving their award would mean much of anything.
Any award is only desirable to you if you trust that the organization giving it understands your efforts. It has to be respected as an authority in the industry by potential award recipients, but also for people who value it as a form of endorsement. Or else, why bother? Why have it?

I say this after having received what I would call “light spam” (email specifically targeted to me, but still unwanted) for submitting my work (and a fee, of course) to be considered for an award. On the face of it, everything checks out. That is—it appears to be a real organization made of real people giving real awards. But looking at their website’s “jury” page, there’s no one here I seek recognition from. I’ve never heard of any of them.
