They told me to get extra sensors the doctor would have to send a prescription for extra sensors to the supply company, and then the supply company would have to ask the insurance company (well, actually, another company they've contracted this out to) to authorized the extra sensors, which they may or may not do.
This is absurd. _Everyone_ using these glucose sensors needs to have extras on hand. Issuing extra sensors should be standard.

Uncle is a 79-year-old, disabled diabetic with cognitive impairment. He is not going to suddenly stop being a diabetic. He is not going going to suddenly no longer need an automated glucose monitor to effectively control his glucose levels. There is no way he won't need it for the rest of his life. The fact that he has to keep asking his doctor and insurance company every six months to please let him keep being alive is fucking insane. A system's purpose is what it does. 8/8
