Notably, I didn't have a religious upbringing, and my parents have always been progressive and supportive.

I know that when people complain about "call out culture" or "cancel culture", they're usually complaining about there being social consequences for bigotry and abuse among famous and successful people. But there are also real problems there, where people who aren't particularly famous or successful are constantly under intense scrutiny by our peers.
