What I had on Twitter was basically a sliver of microcelebrity, and it was fucking traumatic. Everything I said was under scrutiny by strangers, and I never knew when someone would read my posts in bad faith and try to make a big deal out of something I didn't word in the exact ideal way.

Sometimes it wasn't even that my wording was bad or unclear. For example, I did a thread years ago, like several years pre-COVID, about how to spend your charity budget (if you have one) to make the most positive impact per dollar spent. A lot of it boiled down to "find reputable charities that either give directly to people in impoverished parts of the world, or prevent/treat disease in those places". It seemed pretty straightforward to me.
