Somewhere on this community’s main page exists a link, depending on the device you’re using. https://wiki.dbzer0.com/piracy/ Start reading. Don’t dive in. Read all you can read, understand everything you can, take all the precautions and only start your journey when you believe you’re ready.

In terms of emulators, the only Nintendo ones I’ve used are DeSmuME, which is a DS emulator, and Dolphin, which is a GameCube and Wii emulator. Both worked pretty well in my experience and I can’t recall having any particular issues. In terms of ROMs, it’s really just a quick google search to find. As others have said, use a VPN when pirating

You just did, congrats! The sidebar has a community wiki with FAQ that might answer most of your questions wiki.dbzer0.com/piracy/faq/ ; also be sure to check fmhy.net which will have a neatly organised list of website that might interest you depending on what you’re looking for. Protect yourself: first and foremost, get a VPN, you can try ProtonVPN for free, Mullvlad is considered the best (arguably, but you don’t have the needs/knowledge yet for the nitpicky details to matter), a VPN will hide from your ISP where you go on the web, it’s a good privacy option even before piracy
