Perhaps at some point we must wake up to the fact that the problem is the party, not the leader.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social It is 1945. I am being promised that a bold, dynamic new Labour leader will revitalise the country. Attlee sends troops to break the strikes by the London dockers then forcibly deports Chinese seaman from Liverpool separating them from their British wives and children.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social Electing a tory to lead the labour party and then wondering what went wrong just makes you look stupid.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social The country is controlled by Ruppert Murdoch. He has two hands and needs two sock puppets, one on the left, one on the right hand.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social A fellow I met here in Cardiff works at the Sennedd as a speech writer. Has worked in Westminster. Describes it as toxic because of the people and the rats. But more than that, it is the plethora of access routes for industry to lobby and bribe and pay their way into politics. It is a systemically corrupt place.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social Why not Bain, next? Go all in for a real villain, not this cracker jack box type.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social It is 2500 BC. Greeks invent a scam they call "rule of the people". It is a democracy, meaning everyone can decide! Everyone except slaves, women, and, actually, literally everyone but a very small minority. The majority of folks needs to STFU and do as they are told - or else. It is now more than 4500 years later. The scam still works.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social Representative democracy in theory is a great thing. However, it can be derailed by a great many things, including misinformed or uninformed voters, corruption, poor leadership, poor planning, conflicting goals and excessive expectations.

@NotTheLBCGuy@mstdn.social And he has not talked about the #Brexit #brexitlies #disinformation & #russian influences in the public discourse of the #altright ala #farage #borisjohnson #reformUK I suspect Keith #Starmer is still using his X account, and has taken no action against the fascist mogul Elon #Musk... Musk doing his best at rotting the situation both in the UK's and in Europe's democratic guardrails: the goal seems to break everything so as to be able to say the most false things publicly and have them being amplified just like in #Russia & the #USA
