@raymierussell@mastodon.scot Huh! I thought the voting system was the same across the entirety of the UK, so only voting for constituency candidates. This mixed individual+list thing is kind of similar to the system in Hungary actually.

@phl@mastodon.social This system is only for the Scottish Parliament. The old first past the post system is used in UK National elections to the House Of Commons and you have to be 18 to vote and photo ID to vote in this election was introduce a few years so. So in Scotland you can vote at 16+ without photo ID for the Scottish Parliament and Local council BUT you need to 18+ and have photo ID to vote in the Westminster elections. Norther Ireland & Wales have different systems for their devolved Institutions
