The old first past the post system is used in UK National elections to the House Of Commons and you have to be 18 to vote and photo ID to vote in this election was introduce a few years so. So in Scotland you can vote at 16+ without photo ID for the Scottish Parliament and Local council BUT you need to 18+ and have photo ID to vote in the Westminster elections. Norther Ireland & Wales have different systems for their devolved Institutions
