This is not good on any front. It further centralizes our onramp to media, it creates fewer digital TV solutions on the market, and puts so much human data into Rupert's hands. @tchambers@indieweb.social @kajord@hachyderm.io I'm not sure what kind of data they're going to get. A list of the TV shows we watch? I have the listening features turned off on my smart TV and my Roku sound bar, which is seldom used, requires me to push a button to talk to it, and I don't. So they're not eavesdropping. I'm trying to understand the problem here beyond general invasion of privacy, which we encounter every time we leave the house, use a phone, or buy something with a credit card.
