This is the burning Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra β€” a site of immense historical and spiritual significance. The last time this cathedral was bombed was by the Nazis during WW II. Every time I see Russia's representatives welcomed back into international sports and culture while their country continues to burn cities, destroy heritage, and kill civilians, I find it harder not to curse the world eager to move on while Ukrainians pay the price every day. #russiaIsATerroristState

It is truly tragic how casually the war in Ukraine is discussed in everyday conversation. What leaves me speechless, however, are the absurd suggestions made by those who are not directly affected as to how Ukraine should behave. By behaving in this way, the Western world is betraying its moral values.

@andre@mastoart.social It's a shame really. One more reason to end this war ASAP.

I'm so sorry and sad and very shocked this morning. It's never been about anything else but the dictator's ego. What he can't own he needs to destroy. Devastating.

@andre@mastoart.social outrageous and distressing and utterly sad

  • @andre@mastoart.social I don't think of it as a world eager to move on, but as a world happily supporting (a multitude of) atrocities that keep our richest getting richer by any means, because we foolishly believe we're benefiting.

@andre@mastoart.social It was so sad to see this image on the news, and it is devastating to see how the world continue to look the other way. I don't know what to say, more than I hope this war will end asap. πŸ˜’πŸ’”

@andre@mastoart.social Every time I see images like this, I'm reminded that for Ukraine this war has never become "normal". It is still destroying lives, families, history and culture every single day. Seeing the world so eager to move on while this continues is deeply painful.

@andre@mastoart.social I understand your frustration when Russian representatives return to international sport and cultural events as if nothing has happened. Sport and culture should bring people together, but they should never become a way to ignore responsibility. My thoughts are with you, my friend, and with everyone in Ukraine.
