getting fed up with not knowing the exact shape and scale of the visible sky after 38 years of looking at it and finally sitting down to work out the math and produce a model i can inspect was a surprisingly mind expanding experience. makes me wonder what other basic trig problems which let you reach out and touch the infinite have been hiding in plain sight all along?
