@huntingdon@mstdn.social Not having internal speakers seems like a plus. There are only a few TV's that come with speakers that provide somewhat ok sound. Base is near absent. We currently use a tiny bluetooth speaker we bought used, even that lill thing is way better than the built in TV speakers :/

@lettosprey@tech.lgbt @monkeyninja@10base2.dev Most people will want internal speakers. The best option to improve the sound is with an HDMI eARC cable to an external front speaker. Be aware that many signage display tvs, attractive because they are not "smart" tvs, do not have an ARC or eARC feature.

@lettosprey@tech.lgbt The internal speakers on most TVs in the last 20 years are pretty comparable to the 2.0 "home theater in a box" speakers from the 80s and 90s (good enough to reasonably decent).
