@lettosprey@tech.lgbt The internal speakers on most TVs in the last 20 years are pretty comparable to the 2.0 "home theater in a box" speakers from the 80s and 90s (good enough to reasonably decent). Having a hifi for good TV audio isn't really A Thing anymore. @huntingdon@mstdn.social @monkeyninja@10base2.dev

@BalooUriza@social.tulsa.ok.us This is completely opposite of my experience. My mom insisted the internal speakers were "going to be good enough!", couple of days later she asked if I could help get better speakers for her new Samsung TV. Our LG has thin, baseless sound, as did our previous Phillips. We are not "audiophiles", a tiny speaker is being used instead of the built in ones, and sounds so much better... Think there was one LG TV that had somewhat good sound at one point, most is crap. They cut corners where ever they can, there is a reason the smart TV-bits are so crappy. Good speakers would also ruin the "super thin" TV style they push. Well, yah, "having a hifi for audio isn't a thing" is true. A sound-bar, however, is very, very common... @huntingdon@mstdn.social @monkeyninja@10base2.dev
