@pthane@toot.wales @HI_Greens@mastodon.scot they do the same thing as the usps, it is an apt comparison. less govt is good - we know govt is not accountable, the private sector has competition, they have contrrols, the govt doesn't, it isn't even close when you look at the efficiency of the private sector vs the govt

The original post was about the UK Post Office, and other privatised public services. Some of our old publicly owned enterprises were badly managed and under invested. If we had cared enough we could have elected politicians who promised more money and better management but instead we kept electing politicians who promised low taxes and cut services they wouldn't fund.

Nope, they only come after your paid for the trip. FedEx uses their own delivery drivers and trucks? Nope, independent contractors do the majority of the last mile deliveries that aren’t subbed to USPS. The lack of oversight is what generates the profit.
