@Retreival9096@hachyderm.io @deviantollam@defcon.social I get where you're coming from, but that's like obsessing over the lock on your front door when a burglar could easily enter through a broken window. Anyone owning or using a gun should undergo basic gun safety training which centers around treating every gun as if loaded and never pointing it any anything or anyone you don't want to kill.

@Retreival9096@hachyderm.io @deviantollam@defcon.social The fact that this "agent” negligently discharged his gun that way shows that he lacked the most basic training, which is outrageous for anyone in any law enforcement role. Gun accidents are caused by arrogance and stupidity, not by the lack of safety mechanisms. If you were seen at any gun shop or shooting range carelessly pointing even an unloaded gun at people or property for even an instant, you would be yelled at or kicked out.

@deviantollam@defcon.social @freediverx@mastodon.social (or even pick the lock ... ) all security is fallible, so backups make sense too. After all, I still put a lock on the door, and that stops *some* failures.
