@deviantollam@defcon.social @freediverx@mastodon.social (or even pick the lock ... ) all security is fallible, so backups make sense too. After all, I still put a lock on the door, and that stops *some* failures.

@Retreival9096@hachyderm.io @deviantollam@defcon.social When it comes to safeties on handguns, a counterargument is that in a life or death scenario, the safety could prevent the person from firing when needed, and the extra second or two could cost them their life. I only shoot for fun/sport, so this isn't an issue for me—but it’s one of the arguments against. Also, modern guns don't accidentally fire on their own, even if dropped, so accidental discharges are better addressed with training and practice than tech.
