@linmob@fosstodon.org @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems Squeekboard's customizable layouts are the reason I'm sticking with it. I don't care for modern mobile keyboards. I don't want autocorrect, prediction, swiping, etc. I want numbers, alphabet, arrows (all four of them), ctrl, alt, shift, tab, escape, delete, f1-f12, and everything else that a normal terminal user might desire always and readily available, and to that end have made and tweaked my own orthogonal squeekboard layout over the years.

@CalcProgrammer1@mastodon.social This gave me the thought that Linux on phones needs to have a way to switch keyboard programs at runtime like Android does, for maximum flexibility. Maybe one keyboard works better for one task than another one and someone wants to use them interchangeably. I say this because usually I like the swiping and prediction, but if I'm using a terminal or a program that's not as mobile-friendly, I want those extra layouts with alt and stuff like you mention. Helps development, too.
