But now comes the hard part. Finding a server. This can be frustrating to the new user. There are over 3000 servers listed on the Mastodon site, where you can choose the ones that match your interests. They will all be closed to new members.

I know you had your heart set on joining the Astrophysics community on Mastodon, but perhaps it is time to explore new interests. Admit it, you’ve always been curious about Morris Dancing. Or maybe you want to connect to your Inner Furry. On Mastodon you can! If you can’t find a good fit, there are a few large servers that accept new members, such as Gehenna.online and Sheol.social. But you may find it difficult later to leave. 5/11
