Oh my, I think you might have hit the nail on the head!
I've got a hunch that autistic children might not be concentrating as much on *other humans* as neurotypicals... Maybe it's more about patterns or systems? Nature. Lights. Allsorts ๐ฆ
Which means it might really just take a bit longer.
But hey, it's not like we're not learning about other things ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐

@KatyElphinstone@mas.to @foolishowl@social.coop we're dealing with making sense of everything *waves at world* because we have different filter settings. I noticed when my kid was small that other children seemed to notice their surroundings much less than me and my kid. That squirrel or bird in the tree. The sounds of sirens in the background, the reflections on the lake. The infernal *noise* of kids in groups, all talking at once. I've never been one to put stuff in rows, but I sympathize. The world feels much more messy if you have no filters.
