Customer service is my job in my current role so I'm hyper-aware of how this reflects in my own experience. And I have to say, with one exception, every conversation I've ever had with the IRS has been exceptional in this regard. The people who answer the phones there are genuinely spot on when it comes to the human connection you need to get your questions answered and are helpful and friendly and empathetic.

@flargh@mastodon.social I’ve had to call a state or regional office with CA business tax questions once or twice, and they were great too. It wasn’t IRS, but maybe honor code among government tax pros?
