@julian@fietkau.social @renchap@oisaur.com *scrunches up face* wait, so… how do you make a quote post then? if the answer is "you click on the post and quote-boost", does that mean it's impossible to quote post a post in a reply to another post?

@mcc@mastodon.social @renchap@oisaur.com I don't have the UI on my server yet, but yes, AFAIK the "quote this" function is the intended and only way to create a quote post. Turning URLs into quotes is the sort of surprise magic that I believe the design wants to avoid. I don't know if it'll be possible to quote in a reply and I can't discern it from looking at the recently merged pull requests, gotta defer to Renaud on that, or to that announced blog post.

@mcc@mastodon.social right now it’s not possible, but we will add something when you post a link to a Fediverse post to offer adding it as a quote. It requires significant API changes, so it is for a later improvement @julian@fietkau.social
