If you have money you can just buy an ecologically harmonious lifestyle off-the-shelf.
For those of us who don't have money the essential thing is to reduce your expenses and access land, preferably with ownership. (I finally managed to get twenty acres of land in Northern California. It's not very good land, but I can work with it.) Most people have some kind of access to land. A cousin with some acres they're not using, something.

I can't give detailed advice in a handful of toots, but there are literally thousands of resources out there you can draw on to reduce your expenses. Food is probably the main fulcrum. Buy only wholesome food, buy from people you know, buy in bulk and cook communally, food is the staff of life, food is medicine, food is an obligation (eat or die!) and an honor (always give thanks for food.) Eat wholesome food. Spend less, eat better. 3/5
