Various social networks historically have initially shaped but then been shaped by the communities who use them. They hack around the norms of the developers who designed the network.
We're seeing a large influx in, so the community is in flux again. We have some norms and reasons for them, but even before this people interacted in their own way. Ultimately its up to each of us, how we use this network

@onepict@chaos.social @MadSci@focal.social @feditips@mstdn.social Yes, and that is true even of Twitter, Facebook, etc. Feditips has set itself up as a bit of a central authority on fediverse etiquette and explaining, so the original post seems a bit strident in saying people should NOT do something. I had shared this account as a useful one for my fellow #twittermigration folks. Now I am wondering if I made a mistake and took a side in a "fight"
