@sushee@ohai.social I use text editors mainly for manipulating large bodies of text pulled from disparate sources that need drastic levels of cleanup so they can be pasted into other applications, like quoting from old scanned books.
BB Edit is my gold standard, but it's Mac only, so on Windows I use Notepad++ or Bluefish, and on Linux, just Bluefish.

@gcvsa@mstdn.plus "large body" and "drastic cleanup" make me think to give vim a try (or rather gvim) but the learning curve is as steep as every joke on the internet says - you have to earn the power. other than that "kate" as a pretty good reputation in terms of what you expect from a text editor if you really wanted a new editor besides bluefish.
