@idzie@kolektiva.social I live lower than the mountains, higher than the desert, in the valley directly next to mancos shale formations that once held marine life but now house tough drought resistant animals including prairie dogs, coyotes, red-tailed hawks and golden eagles. Saltbrush and sagebrush rule the land, but hookless cacti and junipers add variety. One of the few North flowing rivers brings life to the area before joining the river strong enough to carve many of my continent's steepest canyons.

@idzie@kolektiva.social Your ecology sounds so much like mine, other than that you have elevation lol

@idzie@kolektiva.social Hmm. I would say Great Lakes Region but you mentioned elevation. Somewhere in upstate NY or otherwise the northern East Coast of the US?

@idzie@kolektiva.social What a great (beautifully descriptive & knowledgeable) afternoon break from grim political posts! Thank you!😊
