@idzie@kolektiva.social I live lower than the mountains, higher than the desert, in the valley directly next to mancos shale formations that once held marine life but now house tough drought resistant animals including prairie dogs, coyotes, red-tailed hawks and golden eagles. Saltbrush and sagebrush rule the land, but hookless cacti and junipers add variety. One of the few North flowing rivers brings life to the area before joining the river strong enough to carve many of my continent's steepest canyons.

@idzie@kolektiva.social this was exceptionally fun because I don't think I've ever tried to describe where I live without naming the rivers and the steep canyons.

@vapaad@wandering.shop @idzie@kolektiva.social I'm stuck between two guesses! Depends on whether your north-flowing river *directly* joins the big canyon-carver or if it technically joins another river first, but i'm gonna guess somewhere near Grand Mesa, CO? Maybe i'm way off but this was a fun test of geography knowledge anyway! 😅

@vapaad@wandering.shop @idzie@kolektiva.social I was actually thinking the Uncomphagre! 😁 just a little hazy on where exactly Grand Mesa was in relation to it. The Uinta Basin is a place very near & dear to my heart so that whole (much) greater area is of interest to me. 💙💙💙
