@fsphil@mastodon.social B924A1 is a constant current driver IC. You'll see it being used to drive LEDs, probably as in this case, but also some measurement devices where exact reference isn't critical
PT4115 is a very similar device, and you can probably use it interchangeably (it's also more available outside of China/Taiwan)

@cypnk@masto.hackers.town @fsphil@mastodon.social I reckon you're right this is very similar part, but may be a incompatible size? PT4115 is SOT89-5 (4mm long, flat legs, exposed pad) but I think the package in the photo might be SOT23-5 (2.9mm long, legs bend down). Hard to tell without a measurement though.
