I've never been someone that could "get" programming. It's just not how my brain works. But I can follow breadcrumbs pretty easily and the ability to "create" code with an LLM is super cool. That said, seeing the proliferation of new apps is really highlighting how little people know about design and interface experience. I think efficiency and thoughtful UI are going to become the differentiator in the end between a good app and one that is merely acceptable.

  • LLMs will cheefully build you Homer's car and even though they will get *better*, I don't think an LLM will ever have taste, either good or bad. Without a standard for good taste, the net results slide to bad very quickly, mostly because people don't know when to stop.

  • I've been using Claude Code over the past month to help fabricate the film tracker I've always wanted. I've taken a pretty firm hand with the design and functionality, but this is still a pretty new experience for me. Would love to get some feedback or ideas from anyone who is interested! I'd also appreciate any reposts or shares 🙂 https://testflight.apple.com/join/sysux8PV

@joshcalvetti 1000%, that's the nuance that's lost on both sides of the debate. Humans are gonna have to work harder to differentiate but at the same time, the humans who have actual skill in code/design are gonna be better off. The doomerism and breathless wonder about the future of computing are both extreme. The truth is always in the middle.
