@matt5sean3@urusai.social wait... they are trying to ban 3D printers??? why, because you can theoretically make weapons or smth?
what next? power tools? pipes? cleaning solutions?

@himbovoorhees@elekk.xyz It varies by state, but I haven't seen outright bans, but I remember one bill would establish an "approved printers list" for that state banning all but explicitly approved printers. Other states are looking at requiring any print to be verified as "not a gun part" which isn't a thing you can do in reality, so the expectation is that they'll force every design to be submitted to a central service for checking before printing.
