Knowing how to cook is a really important skill because it lets you save money and improve your health and well being yourself. You're creating value directly, and literally eating it. There's no taxes on what you produce, there's relatively few middlemen, there's no limited selection, etc. Of course, it takes both time, skills, and energy including mental energy. @revoluciana@chaosfem.tw At least here in Southern California, that'd cost you like $50/meal at least, or $4500/mo which is $54000/yr in **after tax** money. For a family of 4 that already has a first earner, the second earner's marginal tax rate would be at least 40% here, so that's $90,000 a year before taxes, which is more than the median *household* income of about $84,000 nationwide and likely to be more than the income of the "primary" earner.
