At least here in Southern California, that'd cost you like $50/meal at least, or $4500/mo which is $54000/yr in **after tax** money. For a family of 4 that already has a first earner, the second earner's marginal tax rate would be at least 40% here, so that's $90,000 a year before taxes, which is more than the median *household* income of about $84,000 nationwide and likely to be more than the income of the "primary" earner.

@revoluciana@chaosfem.tw From this perspective, in most US family households, the *primary* producer is likely to be the woman staying home taking care of kids and dealing with food and transportation and education issues. (it's not always a woman, but it is mostly)
