This is (among other things) because customers like me are always taken for granted. We’re supposedly ‘locked-in’. But I really think that every now and then these companies should throw us a bone, so that we don’t change our minds and stop being loyal customers. 16 years of paid subscription isn’t pocket change. How about “Thanks for being with us so long, next month is on us”? It’s not earth-shattering but maybe enough to make some people happy. 2/

@morrick@appdot.net I have had the same cell carrier since 2004. They had amazing deals during their startup-rebel era (an actual cell carrier — not MVNO pseudo carrier). Eventually they stabilized and the investors wanted profits after several years of customer acquisitions from the established competitors. They lost the underdog feeling I loved. However, I still *like* (not celebrating) them and they did eventually give me a special-deal cell-service contract. Super cheap.
