I used to go to paper stores, study paper company samples (there were so many), and I was fortunate enough to work in a printing plant for two years, as well as going on press at printers. Also obsessive about reading colophons—sometimes I still write authors or designers asked about the paper they used and their feelings about it!

@glennf@twit.social @typearture@typo.social @DaPickle@mastodon.sdf.org I recently went down a rabbit hole on inks and journal paper types. Because I’m left handed I hate getting ink on my hand so I started comparing paper and gel pens. Sometimes paper matters as much as how fast ink will dry.
