@amyworrall@mastodon.social I mean, my example was a bit sneaky. Color names specifically are a very cultural construct (some languages/cultures don't have names for some colors, or have names for colors that English doesn't have a name for). For tennis balls specifically, a lot of people would claim they're green. But also, it's not too uncommon to find a group of people who say weird things in unison. If you'd ask "is my measles vaccine safe?", you'd get very different answers from a "science" and an "antivax" subreddit, for example. Having context of where the information came from is important in a lot of cases - and not only do LLMs lose that context, a lot of them, especially ChatGPT, actually have a cultural image of being "trustworthy", so, uhm.
