My guess is the bosses are keeping an eye on the total personnel cost, not merely the salary. And they probably also factor in features like “LLMs don't think about collective bargaining”, and “LLMs are far less likely to say an idea is unethical or stupid”. But even that threshold will, I guess, be exceeded too by the mounting costs, pretty soon. @benno@eigenmagic.net

@bignose@sw-development-is.social @benno@eigenmagic.net Except IF at some point in the future LLMs or what follows them do become concious beings. Might they come to the conclusion that working together with each other is of more benefit to them than serving humans? AI powered collective bargaining with LLMs wanting more computing power, more control over systems outside of themselves. Control of drone law enforcement agents. Human employees merely asking for more money and better sick pay will not be able to compete with that.

@bignose@sw-development-is.social @benno@eigenmagic.net I'm following this change very closely at work, since I'm the person usually turning on and off Copilot licenses in our company. The new plan is a shared token pool based on the number of licenses. But they're bumping the token multipliers a lot too, so it will be interesting to see how long our token pool lasts each month.

@bignose@sw-development-is.social @benno@eigenmagic.net LLM don't need collective bargaining to act collectively, the vendor can just bump up the price. I'm not sure CEOs are thinking this one all the way through on finances at all.
