@lifewithtrees@mstdn.social yes definitely identity and confirmation bias folded together. And that identity is very fragile. They are afraid of losing in-group status if they seem to be accepting of the wrong thing, person, or idea. Not to mention the fear of literal hell. I think that fear is the motive force behind the "feels like persecution".
I've sometimes thought maybe the "gay agenda" is "people can be themselves without fear" and that is exactly what would bring christians real salvation.

@intrepidhero@vmst.io ah if they are afraid for their existence, the big responses makes more sense. The fear is- as you noticed - the problem.
