GoFundMe.com has been driving me up the wall. I must have donated as a guest, but to unsubscribe from a campaign's further pleading emails, you have to have an account to be able to change notification preferences. I refuse to become more deeply connected to a system only to extricate myself from it. It took a lot of scouting around the website to find a privacy center where I could submit my email and ask to be deleted. At least next time I donate via GoFundMe, I'll know how to get back out.

This is where GDPR helps. The privacy system asks what country you're in, presumably to figure out whether they have to honour my request or not. I realise this annoyance is nothing compared to the people needing help, who are using these services. As such, I'm glad they exist, and I know they need to find themselves too somehow. Ugh just ugh let me donate without having yet another account or ghost account created. We should be making this easy.

@sarajw@front-end.social I know you shouldn't have to, but this is why I've been really, really enjoying moving over to email-address-per-service handled by Fastmail and 1Password. I haven't had to yet, but it's lovely to know that I can just turn off any address if someone starts to annoy me.
