"Ms. Smith’s effort to push Alberta into a dangerous, divisive and economically harmful separation referendum campaign stem(s) from her delusional view of the constitution. https://albertapolitics.ca/2026/05/danielle-smith-promotes-delusional-history-of-u-s-and-canadian-constitutions-to-promote-separation-referendum/ "(That) she is ignorant of both the U.S. and Canadian constitutions would be amusing were she not a premier promoting … constitutional change in Canada with the provincial treasury for a slush fund and the assistance … of foreign actors in possession of stolen personal data of 3 million of us …"

  • @drakakis@thecanadian.social Danielle Smith is kind of inspirational in the Nixon/Kissinger/Cheney school of not really have any beliefs or thoughts of her own other than she likes to be in power and will do whatever cynical thing she feels like will keep her there. To reign is worth ambition. She should be kept far away from anything like power but that's not how cows think when she's spewing what they want to hear.

@drakakis@thecanadian.social This is exactly what I'm alluding to when I say "wink, wink, nudge, nudge platitudes towards federalism" On the one hand she says she's a federalist and then goes on to make a disengneous speech about how the big bad federal government is trying to take away the rights of Alberta and it's embattled premier. This woman is a separatist in federalist clothing.
