@apple_dumplin@noauthority.social I climbed St Helens in around 1989. It was like someone took a beach and tilted it 45 degrees! You slid back a half step for every step forward. Back then you could creep up to the ledge and peer into the crater; I hear that’s all roped off now.

@kurt@truthandfreedom.social 1 step forward 2 back!! Still the same to summit 😅 Unless the rope is very recent, there wasn't one when I was there. And, the mountain's crater is growing a football size a year. You can hear the lava bubbling from the ledge
