@aartaka@merveilles.town imagine a small square window, with a text input on the bottom. If you enter a URL there, it downloads it, and a job is shown above. Once a job is complete, you can navigate to the file. Jobs can be clicked to view their logs.
Download location can be static (set up beforehand), or it could be dynamic (music videos go here, audio goes here), maybe even scripted in GNU Guile.
And a clever effective way to use various options of yt-dlp in this universal text input. Prefixes? Hotkeys? It should be very discoverable, preferably written in the window somewhere. Accessible both from mouse and keyboard.
And for systems with the concept of sharing, it should be possible to share links to it.
