Andrés says he’s been volunteering at Abrazo for a long time though he isn’t officially part. What he’s seen is that if it’s run as a business, it won’t thrive. If it’s run as a community, it’ll be a community thing. Abrazo is run by one person *supported by a whole community*. He brings tea and cookies because people want to chat and have closeness. (He has an alfajor business: Wooden Table Baking Co.)

Augusto says everything does have a cost, even if you don’t charge, someone is paying…even if it’s with their time, or donations, or… But he wants to acknowledge that organizing is *work*. He makes a living as a tango organizer. We just talked about how DC Queer Tango wants to do free or low cost, and so we sought out sponsorship from a community college to get free space. As a condition, we are not allowed to charge or pass the hat. #ConexionQueerTango #queerTango #tangoQueer #tango
